Great Talk on Mexborough and the Glass Bottle Industry of South Yorkshire

Edwin Trout entertained us with the history of the glass bottle industry and specifically focussed on Mexborough.  This town represents a typical location producing glass bottles and was chosen because Edwin has a family link to the place which was the original spark for him to explore the topic.  Starting with the early glasshouses and coming through to the end of much of the industry in the mid-twentieth century we learnt so much about this industry that is now only carried out by six companies in England.
