The Windsor Castle water conduit was a significant 16th-century engineering project designed to supply fresh water to the castle, often overlooked in the town’s earlier history. Documentary evidence suggests the system was developed around 1510–1560, with ongoing maintenance needed to support the castle’s water needs, reflecting the area’s development during the Tudor period.
This talk will be the well-known Windsor historian Dr David Lewis.
It will take place on 18th May 2026 in St Mary’s Church Hall, Castle Street in Reading. Starting at 19.30. Non-members are welcome, but a small charge of £3 is made to cover drinks and biscuits.
