A History of ICE
The Institute of Civil Engineers, South-East Branch, hosted an informative lecture on the Institute’s history covering its development and early practices through to how professional practice is maintained based on the pioneering work of those early members. It was interesting to hear how the early membership was restricted to under 30 years to allow free discussion and specifically near-misses to help learn from potential incidents. ICE has more about their history on their website.
BIAG members are invited to meetings of this group, which are held locally. A full list of such meetings can be obtained from www.ice.org.uk/near-you/uk/south-east-england.
